Hangar and Zavadilka scored highly in the Moravian-Silesian Region Building Competition

The award ceremony for the Moravian-Silesian Region Building of the Year 2024 competition took place on Thursday, September 25, in the industrial premises of Kompresorovna in the Landek Park complex in Ostrava-Petřkovice. The jury evaluated 49 buildings, focusing primarily on the quality of the materials used and workmanship, innovation, and architectural design. HSF System took home two awards.

The special jury prize went to the exceptional Porubka Point (Hangar) project, which impressed the jury with its completely new concept of sports buildings. The Hangar climbing center is the largest bouldering center in the Moravian-Silesian Region, created in collaboration with four-time world climbing champion Adam Ondra.

Climbing enthusiasts can look forward to an expansion of the center’s capacity—the property owner, the ANTRACIT development group, is now investing in the construction of a second above-ground floor, which will feature new bouldering walls of varying difficulty, a ninja zone for games and training, spaces for clubs and celebrations, a children’s zone, and other technical and social facilities. The contractor for the extension is the HSF System group, and the Hangar Climbing Center is responsible for the equipment and operation of the center.

Porubka Point is primarily a space where sports, education, and activities of various communities come together. It was its openness, flexibility, and versatility that caught the attention of the expert jury.

With its scale and well-thought-out program, it significantly improves the quality of the regional sports infrastructure. At the same time, the project sensitively complements the civic amenities of Ostrava-Poruba with a previously missing type of sports facility in an easily accessible location, thereby activating the surrounding area and enhancing its everyday life and quality,” said jury member Ing. arch. Petr Zahraj.

Quality, sustainability, and architecture score points

In the category of buildings constructed outside the Moravian-Silesian Region, the jury was won over by the Wellness Hotel Zavadilka in Prostřední Bečva.

“In our evaluation, we assess not only the architecture, but also the technical design, quality of materials, accessibility, and, last but not least, the impact of the building on the environment. The Zavadilka Hotel is proof that a building can be a beautiful element that fits into the surrounding buildings and landscape,” added jury chairman Ing. Martin Vilč.

Both projects prove that quality, sustainability, and innovation are not empty concepts at HSF System, but rather its fundamental philosophy.

Construction Personality 2024: Jan Hasík

In addition to the award-winning buildings, the jury also awarded a special Construction Personality 2024 prize, which was accepted by one of the founders of HSF System and CEO of the PURPOSIA Group investment holding company, Jan Hasík.

“I see this award not only as recognition of my lifelong work in construction, but also as confirmation of the values on which we base our work. For me, it is proof that one must do business sustainably, responsibly, and honestly, and success will come naturally,” said Jan Hasík.

The Moravian-Silesian Region Construction Competition is organized by the Association of Entrepreneurs in Construction, the Czech Chamber of Authorized Engineers and Technicians, the Association of Architects – Ostrava branch, and the Moravian-Silesian Region.
