President Petr Pavel visited the construction site of the church and community center in Neratovice. The church’s bell tower and rectory are being built using 3D printing

Czech President Petr Pavel visited the construction site of the new Holy Trinity Church and Cardinal Josef Beran Community Center in Neratovice. It will be the first religious building in the Czech Republic to be partially constructed using 3D-printed concrete. The church tower and rectory are being built using the revolutionary 3DCP technology. The general contractor for the project is the international construction group HSF System, part of the PURPOSIA Group investment holding. The design was created by architect Zdeněk Fránek. The investor is the Neratovice Community Center Foundation. The total cost of the shell construction is approximately CZK 204 million.

During his visit, President Petr Pavel toured the church and community center under construction, familiarized himself with the current progress of the work, and learned about the planned use of 3D concrete printing in the construction of the church tower and rectory.

“We greatly appreciate the President’s visit. It confirms that this project is significant not only for Neratovice but also for the wider public. It is a project that combines architecture, faith, community life, and new construction methods. We are very grateful to be part of this project,” says Jan Hasík, CEO of the PURPOSIA Group investment holding.

Currently, the foundations of the rectory and the perimeter walls of the community hall and retaining walls are complete. A striking feature of the entire structure will be the church tower. It is being constructed using 3D concrete printing technology. Testing of the printing of individual parts is currently underway. The goal is to verify the shape, the fit of the components, the surface quality, and the assembly process. “3D concrete printing technology opens up new possibilities for architectural expression by enabling the creation of organic and curved shapes without compromising the strength or stability of the structures. The use of concrete as a proven building material ensures that the resulting structures are strong, durable, and safe,” explains Tomáš Kosa, CEO of the HSF System construction group.

To utilize the revolutionary Czech 3D concrete printing technology for the church’s construction, the HSF System construction group is collaborating with its subsidiary, Coral Construction Technologies, which has long focused on developing its own technological solution for 3D concrete printing. “The magic of our technology lies in the fact that we take standard ready-mix concrete and, using a mixture of additives, give it freedom of form through 3D printing. This is ideal for building a church tower. We don’t need to produce complex formwork to precisely capture the delicate lines and elegance of the design,” says Tomáš Vránek, CEO of Coral Construction Technologies.

The structure’s mass symbolizes the ark as the presence and mystery of God in the world, and the tower is a symbol of humanity, which, as both individuals and a community, touches this mystery. The church will be dedicated to the Holy Trinity. The center will bear the name of Cardinal Josef Beran. The project in Neratovice will create a new space for worship, gatherings, education, and community events. The complex will also include a community hall and facilities for the parish and the public. The church tower will feature, for example, a climbing wall. “Every week, progress is visible on the construction site. It is deeply moving for us to see how a long-planned vision is transforming into a concrete space for people. The church and community center will not serve only the parish. An open space is being created here for gatherings, culture, education, and helping others. The added value of the entire project lies precisely in its great versatility and accessibility to the general public and for community events,” adds Marek Matocha, a member of the board of directors of the Neratovice Community Center Foundation.

The construction of the new church and community center responds to a long-standing need of the local community. The Neratovice parish encompasses 13 villages, and according to the foundation, the current facilities lack sufficient capacity. The project thus brings new facilities to a town that was intentionally built without a church in 1957. Construction of the Church of the Holy Trinity and the Cardinal Josef Beran Community Center is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2028. “The project has grown naturally out of the needs of the local community and is funded by donations. The fundraising campaign is still ongoing at kostelneratovice.cz,” concludes Marek Matocha.
