The international development group ANTRACIT today officially launched construction of the ANTRACIT PLZEŇ project in an industrial complex in the city center. The complete renovation of the industrial hall, which was once associated with the famous era of rail vehicle repairs, will provide modern spaces tailored to future users. It will provide new facilities for the Hangar Climbing Center and a regional branch of HSF System. is carrying out the entire project as the general contractor and, together with the ANTRACIT group, is part of the PURPOSIA Group investment holding. Preparatory work necessary for the start of the main construction phase has been underway at the site for several weeks. The official start of the renovation follows the successful conclusion of contracts with the general contractor and future tenants and confirms that the project is 100% ready. Completion of construction and handover of the premises to tenants is scheduled for August 2027.
“Our philosophy at ANTRACIT and PURPOSIA Group is to build on the original values of industrial real estate and respect the character of the given location, which holds specific significance for the city. Building on the architectural designs by Ateliér Ostrava and PROFURE atelier, we are revitalizing a site with a unique genius loci in the center of Pilsen and infusing it with diverse functions—from a bouldering center for the general public to state-of-the-art office space. “To put it lightly, people will soon be climbing walls and working in the former train repair halls,” says Jan Hasík, managing director of the ANTRACIT development group and CEO of the PURPOSIA Group investment holding.
One of the main tenants will be the Hangar Climbing Center, which will bring extensive sports and leisure facilities to the complex. The project will thus be open to the general public. The Hangar Climbing Center will follow up on the construction work with its own specialized interior modifications and is scheduled to open to the public in September 2027. The complex also includes space for a possible future expansion of the climbing center.
The second tenant of the facility will be HSF System. “We view moving into these premises as a strategic milestone and a natural continuation of our growth in Pilsen. The new headquarters for our regional branch will provide us with a modern and inspiring work environment that thoughtfully blends contemporary standards with the site’s unique industrial character. At the same time, we appreciate the opportunity to participate as the general contractor in transforming an area with a rich industrial history into a modern space that adds value to the region and its future development,” says Tomáš Kosa, CEO of the international construction group HSF System . The company will begin using its new office space immediately after its handover in August 2027.
A similar collaboration concept is already successfully in place in Ostrava. There, ANTRACIT built facilities for the largest bouldering center in the Moravian-Silesian Region—the Hangar Climbing Center—according to the client’s specific requirements, once again in collaboration with the general contractor HSF System.
